How to prep for your fall mini sessions
I’m assuming you are either super excited about fall mini session and want to prepare in the best way possible… or you are SO stressed and need a TON of help. Either way, I’m here to give you all the tips and advice you may need! So, if you are just as excited for fall as I am, then be sure to keep on scrollin.

prepare for the weather
First things first, prepare for the weather. Depending on where you live, this could look different for everyone. If you are located in a southern state, chances are it will be warm out. Wear something that is breathable to your mini session and bring water for yourself to stay hydrated in the heat. To those living in the north or in a colder state, wear layers, bring blankets for your clients if they need them, and heat lamps if needed as well.
pack extra equipement
ALWAYS bring extra equipment to any session that you’re going to. Bring extra batteries for your camera, extra SD cards, extra lighting equipment if needed, and anything that might be important to fulfilling your photo process.
bring food and drinks
One of the most essential things that are often forgotten within mini sessions is food and water. Chances are if you are hosting a mini session you will be dealing with children and babies. Sometimes they may not always have water or something to munch on so be sure to bring extra snacks and beverages for your clients. You can pack a cooler with water bottles and anything else that you may need.

bring a friend or partner to help you out
If you don’t have a business partner, it’s always great to bring a friend to help you out on this day! You cannot do everything on your own even though you may want to. I am definitely guilty of that!! Your friend can help you set up the area and record videos for you during your session, this can be a great way to promote your minis as well.
set up ahead of time
If you are holding your fall minis in the evening, then be sure to set up your stuff at least an hour and a half before your photo shoots. If you need anything, this will give you a little bit of time to run out and grab those things before anyone gets there. You do not want to be setting up when your first clients show up for their session, this will only create stress and anxiety… we do NOT want that!
purchase photo decor in advance
My absolute favorite thing to do is shop for photo decor. I love to go to Hobby Lobby, Amazon, Michaels, and honestly any store that sells super cute decor. Be sure to purchase all of the stuff at least two weeks in advance of your session just in case anything gets delayed and you’ll be prepared!
set aside plenty of time between sessions
Before you announce your fall mini sessions for clients to book, make sure that you put plenty of time in between sessions for you to breathe. Mini sessions can get absolutely crazy and hectic so you want to make sure you at least have 15-20 minutes of break time between sessions. You’ll thank me later for this one!
